Dubbens to enter CV-S Hall

Cherry Valley-Springfield will induct former baseball coach Ed Dubben and his son Scott into its Athletic Hall of Fame on June 20.

Their inductions will take place during the CV-S Athletic Awards Night, which starts at 6 p.m. June 20 in the high school auditorium.

Ed Dubben’s lengthy career included numerous Tri-Valley League crossover championships, several East Division titles and an appearance in the Section Four Class D championship game.

Scott Dubben was a three-sport standout (soccer, basketball, baseball) and set several program records in baseball for the Patriots. He went on to play Division III baseball at Oneonta State.

Delhi inductions Saturday

SUNY Delhi will hold its annual Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony at 3 p.m. Saturday at the college’s Clark Field House.

The Broncos will induct Stuart Silverstein (Class of 1972) as an outstanding supporter, former wrestler Garrett Keith (1984), former cross country/track athlete Jestina McPherson Dawson (2004) and their 1963-64 men’s soccer team, which went 4-0 in its first season.

A reception with light refreshments and the Alumni Awards Dinner will follow the ceremony, which will take place in conjunction with Alumni Weekend.

Powerlifting competition Saturday

Muscles in Motion in Oneonta will host a powerlifting competition at 10 a.m. Saturday.

The Powerbowl will feature male and female lifters ages 13 and older who will compete in open, junior (13-17) and masters (50-plus) divisions. Men’s weight classes are 148, 165, 181, 198, 220, 242, 275 and 275-plus. Women’s weight classes are 105, 123, 148, 165, 198 and 198-plus.

Events include bench press, deadlift and push/pull.

Weigh-ins and gear checks run from 7:30-9 a.m. Saturday, followed by warm-ups at 9 a.m.

Entry fee is $50 per lifter or $50 per team (five members).
