Proceeds will fund two scholarships to Delaware County graduating seniors and the Catskill Mountain Club for building hiking trails in Delaware County.

Race director Amy Beveridge said via email that last year’s event drew 469 participants and raised more than $15,000.

Lumberjack qualifiers Sunday

STIHL TIMBERSPORTS will host its Professional Northeast Qualifier for the area’s top lumberjacks from 10:30 a.m.-1 p.m. Sunday at Lakefront Park in Cooperstown.

Local residents will take part in the hot saw, single buck, springboard chop, standing block chop, stock saw and underhand chop for a chance to earn entry into the U.S. Championship, which will run from June 20-22 at Norfolk Scope Arena in Virginia and air on ABC in September.

Interskate 88 to host roller derby

The Oneonta Derailing Darlings will oppose the CNY Wonderbrawlers in a roller derby match at 2 p.m. Sunday at Interskate 88 in Oneonta.

Doors open at 1 p.m. Sunday. General admission is $8. Cost is $5 for students, senior citizens and children under age 12.

Refreshments and children’s activities will be available during the match. Gift certificates and other prizes will be raffled at halftime.

Proceeds from the match will help the Derailing Darlings for travel games, new uniforms and their application to the Women’s Flat Track Association Apprentice Program.

The Darlings are 4-2 on the season. The Wonderbrawlers are from Utica.

Unatego awards night Wednesday

Unatego will host its annual Varsity Awards night at 7 p.m. Wednesday.

Special awards include the Brian Truhn outstanding senior athletes and the most improved athletes.

The National Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown will celebrate its 75th anniversary Thursday.
