(Continued)

Longo earned two forfeits and three pins at 145 pounds. He pinned Wiszear Pries of Perry in 4:35, Dustin Reed of North Rose Wolcott in 1:23, and Trey Garlow of Red Creek in 20 seconds.

Heavyweight Cory Corkwell went 4-1 with four pins. He stopped Cecil Morgan of Perry in 57 seconds, Dontae Johnson of East High in 3:24, Cory Castor of Red Creek in 1:36, and Jacobi Sanchez of Wilson in 2:38. His loss came with 9 seconds left against NRW, which got a pin from Greg LaValley.

“LaValley placed last year in sectionals. I think he was (fifth at 220 pounds) in Section Five, so it was a real good match,” Nealis said. “It would have been a nice win for him, but it was close and he had a good day overall.”

Oneonta (3-3) hosts Owego on Tuesday.

Herkimer Invitational

Jacob Russell and Michael Boyle reached the semifinals of the Herkimer Invitational to lead Cooperstown.

Herkimer’s Taylor Philpotts pinned Russell in 5:08 during a 99-pound semifinal. Boyle dropped a 12-2 major decision to Onondaga’s Tyler Field in a 126-pound semi.

Paul LoRusso (106) and Kevin Segit (195) also reached the quarterfinals for the Redskins.
