Redskins rally to beat Unatego


Coss hit three three-pointers for Afton, which led, 28-16, at halftime.

H-T 40, Margaretville 19

Sam Dibbell scored 10 points to lead Hunter-Tannersville to victory in the championship game of the Margaretville Booster Tournament on Saturday.

Taylor Dart earned MVP honors for the Wildcats, who placed Sarah Murin on the all-tournament team.

Margaretville’s Sami Hunt pulled down 11 rebounds in the loss. All-tournament pick Tess Svoboda had nine points to pace the Blue Devils, who’ll play at H-T today.

Gilboa 51, Andes 27

All-tournament selection Sara Coons had a game-high 19 points to lead Gilboa to a consolation victory in the Margaretville Booster Club Tournament on Saturday.

Shelby Oliver scored 18 points and Brooke Koerner contributed 12 points and 14 rebounds for Gilboa (4-1), which travels to Andes today.

Kelsey Little, an all-tournament pick, had 10 points for Andes.


Sidney 67, Owego 40

Joe Matzel scored 18 points to lead host Sidney to a non-league victory.

Matzel, who also had nine rebounds, scored six first-quarter points in helping the Warriors to a 31-19 halftime lead.

Billy Kozak had nine of Sidney’s 25 assists.

Hunter Sowersby had nine points, and Mike Cruz and Brandon Walters contributed eight apiece for the Warriors (2-1), who’ll play host to Greene on Friday.

Stamford 64, Roscoe 48

Greg Keating and Greg Mattice had eight points apiece during a 20-9 first-quarter run that helped Stamford to a consolation victory in the Margaretville Booster Club Tournament on Saturday.

Keating and Mattice also had 12 points each by halftime as the Indians opened a 37-21 lead. Mattice also had 11 rebounds and three steals, and Keating had nine rebounds and four steals.

All-tournament pick Erik Ehrhart contributed seven points for Stamford (3-1), which will host Davenport on Friday.


at Holiday Lanes

Caryn Balnis rolled a 580 series that included a 242 game to lead Oneonta’s girls to a 4-1 victory over visiting Windsor in the Southern Tier Athletic Conference.

The Yellowjackets (4-0) received games of 189 and 180 from Amy Hait and Emily Loucks, respectively.

Mike Moran had a 560 series to pace Oneonta’s boys (2-2), who fell to the Black Knights, 5-0.

The Yellowjackets will travel to Susquehanna Valley on Wednesday.
