CV-S boys shut out Milford

STAFF REPORT

Kyle Jaquay scored and assisted as unbeaten Cherry Valley-Springfield took a two-goal into halftime and went on to a 5-0 Tri-Valley League boys soccer victory over visiting Milford on Tuesday.

Last week, the Patriots (13-0) earned a 2-1 win over Milford.

“We moved the ball quicker,” CV-S coach Terri Adams said of the difference between this game and last week’s game. “We knew we were playing a good team and we had step it up.”

Ethan Drugatz set up of Jaquay’s goal that made it 1-0 with 15 minutes, 2 seconds left in the first half. Drugatz sent a direct kick from about 35 yards into the box that Jaquay chipped into the goal.

With 5:15 left in the half, Jaquay sent a throughball behind the defense that Noah Russo.

Andrew Spencer scored on a 18-yard shot five minutes into the second half to give the Patriots a three-goal cushion.

Ben Drugatz and Dustin Collins also scored for CV-S, which travels to Worcester on Friday.

On Friday, CV-S earned a 3-0 win at Richfield Springs.

Jordan Manikas, Russo and Dan Bosma scored for the Patriots.

Laurens 2, G-MU 1

Josiah Wenck’s goal with 10:25 left snapped a 1-all and lifted visiting Laurens to a Tri-Valley League victory.

Wenck scored on a high shot from about 20 yards.

Gilbertsville-Mount Upton tied the score at 1 with 28:20 left when Neyen Romano scored on a header that went inside the left post.

Ryan Crean opened the scoring for Laurens.

The Raiders (2-12), who received 12 saves from Austin Burnside, play host to Edmeston on Friday.

Walton 2, Afton 0

Cameron Murphy’s goal with 13 minutes left in the first half gave host Walton a 1-0 lead in its Midstate Athletic Conference victory.

Nate Pieper sent a direct kick from 50 yards into the box. Murphy headed it in from the left side of the box from 8 yards.
