O-State baseball falls to Ithaca; softball drops 2

Scranton 16, O-State 12

Nicole Boylan had three goals, and Caroline Tully, Chelsea Collins and Kiera McNally had two goals apiece for O-State, which lost at home in a non-conference game Tuesday.

Goals by Boylan, Collins and Tully to start the second cut the Red Dragons’ deficit to 11-9. When Nikki Fioretti scored, Oneonta pulled to 12-10, but that’s as close as it would get.

Deanna Giorno had six goals for Scranton (8-5).

The Red Dragons (8-8) visit Oswego on Saturday to finish their regular season. The winner will earn the fifth and final spot for the SUNY Athletic Conference Tournament.

GOLF

Elmira Invitational

Eric Kim and Travis Deuel shot 83 and 84, respectively, to lead Cobleskill to a fourth-place finish in the seven-team Elmira Spring Invitational at the par-72 Elmira Country Club on Tuesday.

Kim finished tied for third in the 35-player field. Deuel tied for fifth.

The Fighting Tigers will compete in the North Eastern Athletic Conference Championships on Friday and Saturday at the Dauphin Highlands Golf Club.
