Winning pitcher Kailyn Gravel struck out 15 and walked four in her second no-hitter of the season, leading Sidney to a Midstate Athletic Conference win.

Kelsey Decker’s RBI single in the first inning drove in Hannah Wood for what proved to be the decisive run. Wood singled, stole second and moved to third on a sacrifice bunt to set up Decker.

Gravel, a freshman who no-hit Walton earlier this season, improved to 3-3.

Cooperstown 5, Waterville 1

Christina Noto led off the Center State Conference game with her first varsity homer and one batter later, Maggie Hall homered to lead visiting Cooperstown.

“It’s probably the first time I can remember two (home runs) in the same inning,” Cooperstown coach Dave Bliss said. “There’s no fence, but they were hit hard _ one in the gap and the other down the line. They made it home easy.”

Noto’s went into the left-center gap and Hall’s fourth homer of the season went down the left-field line.

“She’s just a good hitter,” Bliss said of Hall, a junior. “She’s a solid player offensively and defensively.”

Cooperstown tacked on another run in the first inning on Erin Hascup’s RBI single.

Winning pitcher Nicole Cring struck out 14 and walked two in a three-hitter.

Noto finished with two hits for Cooperstown (7-0, 5-0), which will host Morrisville-Eaton on Friday.
