Baker stays hot for OHS softball

Laurens 11, CV-S 5

Claire Fraser’s three hits and three RBIs helped Laurens to a Tri-Valley League victory that marked its first win of the season.

Jessica Hadlock doubled, singled and drove in three runs for the Leopards (1-7, 1-7). She also struck out seven in a five-hitter.

Jazmine Maidens tripled and drove in two runs for the Leopards, who rallied from a 3-0 deficit after 2 1/2 innings.

Maddie Archer and Jordan Loucks had two hits apiece for the Patriots.

Laurens visits Milford on Friday.

Kaley Chase and Addy Lawson (two runs) each went 3-for-4 with an RBI to lead host Milford to a Tri-Valley League victory.

Kaitlyn Van Winkler struck out five and walked three in a four-hitter for the Wildcats (6-2, 5-2), who host Morris next Wednesday.

Edmeston 11, Schenevus 0

Eighth-grader Catherine Johnson struck out 18 and walked one in a four-hitter as host Edmeston won in the Tri-Valley League.

“Her speed is right up there,” Edmeston coach Ken Plows said of Johnson, who also went 3-for-4. “She actually has a lot of different pitches and she’s working the corners real well.”

Batterymate and fellow eighth-grader Sarah Lawrence went 3-for-4 with a homer in the sixth inning, a triple and three RBIs. Sydney Smith also went 3-for-4 for the Panthers (7-1, 8-1), who will travel to Worcester on Friday.

Taylor Spranger went 2-for-3 with a double for Schenevus.
