Stamford senior scores six in Mayor's Cup triumph

Milford 6, RS 0

Emilie Mertz scored three goals to lead visiting Milford to a Tri-Valley League win.

Hannah Saggese finished with three assists for the Wildcats, who received a goal and two assists from Rileigh Griffiths.

Vanessa Miller stopped 17 shots for the Indians (0-1), who host Edmeston on Thursday.

Morris 2, Laurens 0

Alexis Forgit set up Haley Wist for a goal with 11:33 to go before halftime, leading visiting Morris to a Tri-Valley League victory.

Meghan Barringer extended the lead with two minutes left off a pass from Liana Garry.

“They keep constant pressure on you and they came ready to play,” Laurens coach Scott Bolton said of the Mustangs, who held a 24-4 advantage in shots.

Courtney Sherry finished with 15 saves for the Leopards (0-1), who host Franklin on Monday.

BOYS SOCCERMilford 9, RS 0

Eli Rutledge had two goals and two assists, including the game’s first goal nine minutes into play, as host Milford cruised in the Tri-Valley League.

Jason Dougherty, William Ward, Peyton Griffiths, Dylan Arnot, Jacob Tabor, Ben Sickler and Michael Strenck also scored for the Wildcats (2-0, 1-0).

Milford will travel to Schenevus on Monday.

Schenevus 9, Laurens 0

Jacob Darling scored three times for Schenevus, which received two goals and two assists from Dave Vosatka in a season-opening rout of Laurens during the first round of the Stamford Mayor’s Cup.

Corey Roseboom contributed two goals for the Dragons, who received a 3-for-3 effort in saves from goalie Robert Burton.

Schenevus, which also earned a Tri-Valley League win Tuesday, visits Cherry Valley-Springfield on Friday. The Dragons will meet Gilboa or South Kortright in the second round of the Mayor’s Cup at 2 p.m. Saturday.

B-G 6, Norwich 1

The first of Dan Norris’ two goals came with 5:35 left in the first half and gave host Bainbridge-Guilford a 2-1 lead en route to a non-league victory.
