Punt, Pass & Kick is Sept. 20
The City of Oneonta’s local NFL Punt, Pass and Kick qualifier will run from 5-7 p.m. Sept. 20 at Ted Christman Field in Neahwa Park, rain or shine.
There is no cost to participate. Youths ages 6-15 are eligible to compete. One boy and one girl in each of five age-groups will qualify to advance to sectionals, which will be held Oct. 20 at Damaschke Field in Oneonta and include local qualifiers from the Southern Tier.
Sectional winners may qualify for the Buffalo Bills Team Championship at Ralph Wilson Stadium on Nov. 3.
Registrations will be accepted on the day of the event or in advance at the recreation office in Neahwa Park. A valid birth certificate must be presented at the time of registration. Registration forms must be completed by a parent or legal guardian. Forms are available at the recreation office and online at www.oneonta.ny.us/recreation.

OCC to host scramble Sept. 21
The Oneonta Country Club will host a three-man scramble at 1 p.m. Sept. 21.
The 18-hole, three-person captain-and-crew event will have a shotgun start and cost $120 per team. Teams may enter an optional cash skins game for $30 per team.
The scramble will feature gross scoring only (no handicap). Cash payouts will be awarded.

Venison banquet Sept. 28
The annual CANY Venison Donation Program banquet is set for Sept. 28 at The Holiday Inn of Oneonta. Doors open at 5 p.m. Dinner will be served around 6:15 p.m.
Over the past 12 years, CANY has served close to 300,000 meals to the food banks in Otsego and Delaware counties.

FAM 5K set for Sept. 28
The 20th annual FAM 5K “Fund” Run/Walk will start at 10 a.m. Sept. 28 at the Cobleskill Fairgrounds.
The FAM 5K, which supports Catholic Charities of Schoharie County, awards FAM Funds mutual fund shares to the male and female winners in several age categories. A kids’ run also will be held.
The FAM 5K also hosts the USATF Adirondack 5K Open Men’s Road Race Championship.
Complimentary fruit, bagels, drinks, music and massage therapists will be available for participants. Brooks’ BBQ chicken will be available to purchase.

O-State champions dinner Saturday
Oneonta State’s athletics department will host its sixth annual “Dining for Champions” on Saturday in the Hunt Union Ballroom.
The event will begin at 5:30 p.m. with a cocktail reception and silent auction. Dinner follows at 7 p.m.
All proceeds will support student-athlete travel initiatives and facility enhancements. The event has raised more than $90,000 over its first five years.

Youth soccer tryouts Sunday
The Oneonta Soccer Club will hold tryouts for the 2013-14 season Sunday at the Wright National Soccer Campus.
Players for U8 and U10 teams will try out from 10-11 a.m., followed by U12 from 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m., U14 from 1-2 p.m., U16 from 2:30-3:30 p.m., and U19 from 4-5 p.m. Registration times begin one hour before tryouts for each level.
Registration fee is $30 per player. Registration and medical forms will be available at tryouts.
Cost to play at the U8 level is $100 per player. Cost to play at the U10-U19 level is $150 per player.
The teams will play in the Broome County Soccer Association during the spring outdoor season, which runs from mid-April to late June. Indoor tournaments during the fall and winter may be played at an additional cost.
Uniform kits are required for all players but are not included in the season fees.
