Softball tourney set for Saturday
The Milford Booster Club and the Milford varsity softball team will host the Milford Softball Tournament and Chicken Barbecue on Saturday.
Hunter-Tannersville and Milford will play the tournament opener at 11 a.m. Saturday, followed by Laurens and Roxbury at 1 p.m. The consolation game is scheduled for 3 p.m., followed by the championship game at 5 p.m.
Chicken dinner sales begin at noon. Dinners cost $9 each and include a half-chicken, two sides, roll, dessert and drink. Half-chickens only are $5 each.

Hall opens baseball scout exhibit
The National Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown will open the interactive exhibit Diamond Mines on Saturday.
The exhibit, which honors baseball scouts, will begin a scheduled two-year run in the museum’s second floor and feature a computer interactive of an Anatomy of a Scouting Report that includes more than two dozen reports on players.
The opening will include a Voices of the Game program at 10 a.m. Saturday in the Grandstand Theater. Guests for the roundtable discussion on the role of scouts in baseball will include Hall of Fame executive Pat Gillick; winner of the 2011 Buck O’Neil Award Roland Hemond; Scout of the Year Program Executive Director Roberta Mazur; and Texas Rangers scout and senior special assistant Don Welke.
Tickets for the Voices of the Game event are free but limited and must be reserved in advance by calling 607-547-0397 from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. weekdays.

Free swimming starts Saturday
SUNY Delhi will offer free swimming from 1-5 p.m. at the college pool in Kunsela Hall on Saturday and Sunday.
The free program also will run May 11-12, May 18-19 and May 26.
