Jennifer Flynn and Alannah Haggerty had four hits and two RBIs apiece, and Christina Noto had three hits and four RBIs to lead visiting Cooperstown to a 15-1 softball victory over Sherburne-Earlville in the Center State Conference on Monday.
Maggie Hall, who had two hits, stroked a two-run double in the first inning to give Cooperstown a 2-0 lead. Noto contributed a two-run double during Cooperstown’s five-run second.
Nicole Cring struck out nine and walked two in a two-hitter, and also had two hits.
Cooperstown (13-0, 8-0) will host Westmoreland on Wednesday.
B-G 11, UV 3
Morgan Shew earned a win in her first varsity start, striking out 10 and walking one as Bainbridge-Guilford cruised to a Midstate Athletic Conference win at home.
Marissa Thornton went 2-for-4 with two runs and three RBIs to lead the Bobcats. Thornton’s two-run double highlighted a three-run second inning that ended with B-G ahead, 4-0.
Taylor Palmatier also had two hits and three RBIs for B-G. She hit a two-run triple to highlight a four-run third inning.
The victory locks up the seventh seed for B-G (4-6) in the MAC mini tournament. B-G will visit sixth seeded Harpursville (5-5) on Wednesday for an opening round matchup in the 5-8 tournament.
Unadilla Valley (0-10) is the 12-seed and will play at ninth-seeded Oxford on Wednesday to open the 9-12 tournament.
Laurens sweeps Franklin
Jazmine Maidens scored three runs and had two RBIs for Laurens, which scored 16 runs on three hits to win, 16-11, in the first game of a Tri-Valley doubleheader. The visiting Leopards also won the second game, 14-8.
Claire Fraser homered in the fifth inning of Game 1 for the Leopards and then led off the next game with another homer.
For Franklin (0-10, 0-10), Jordan Beers had six hits and nine RBIs over both games as the Purple Devils completed their season.
