Milford baseball clinches T-V East

Cooperstown hosts Sherburne-Earlville at 4:30 p.m. today at Doubleday Field.

Unatego 23, Oxford 9

Unatego used an 11-run third inning to pull away from visiting Oxford and earn a victory in a MAC 1-4 Tournament semifinal.

Lucas DeJoy hit a grand slam off losing pitcher Andrew Golden in the third.

John Wingate went 4-for-4 with four RBIs and five runs for the Spartans, who got three hits and four runs from Nick Angell. Phil Youngs and Quinn Barnhart (three RBIs) contributed two hits apiece.

Golden went 3-for-4 to lead Oxford.

Unatego (15-3) travels to Johnstown on Saturday.

Franklin 14, G-MU 5

Franklin scored seven runs in the fifth inning to break open a close game and earn a Tri-Valley League victory at home.

Senior Alex Brownell (1-3) had 10 strikeouts and scattered eight hits to earn his varsity victory.

Derek Beers went 3-for-4 with three RBIs and Joe Terrano contributed three hits to lead the Purple Devils at the plate.

“We had great offensive production tonight from our 1-4 hitters,” Franklin coach Darryl Beers said of the top of his order, which went a combined 10-for-15 at the plate.

Chris Cole’s three hits paced Gilbertsville-Mount Upton.

Franklin (4-8) plays Worcester at home today.

Worcester 20, CV-S 5

Worcester scored at least one run in every inning to cruise to a Tri-Valley League win over visiting Cherry Valley-Springfield.

Steve Griffiths and Nate Nicklous (home run) each had three hits and three RBIs for the Wolverines, who got two hits apiece from Chris Mravlja and Ryan Perrillo.

Spencer Supak went 3-for-3 for the Patriots.

Worcester (6-6, 6-5) visits Franklin today.

Edmeston 15, Laurens 0

Edmeston’s Mike Clark hit a two-run home run in a five-run first inning for Edmeston, which cruised to a road victory in the Tri-Valley League.
