Milford baseball clinches T-V East

Linton Wainright went 3-for-6 with five RBIs and Clayton Hawes (RBI) had three hits for the Panthers.

David Fraser doubled for Laurens (3-9).

The Leopards host Morris today.

Hancock 11, Roxbury 1

Hancock scored at least one run in each of the first five innings for a non-league home victory.

Tyler Phillips went 3-for-3 and Ryan Smith had two hits and two RBIs to lead the Wildcats.

Winning pitcher Kevin Consolazio struck out six and gave up one hit over six innings. Consolazio also tripled and singled.

Sam Nash had the lone hit for the Rockets.

Hancock (12-5) plays Stamford at home Saturday.

SOFTBALLRS 5, Milford 4

Kaity Richvalsky struck out 12, walked four and scattered seven hits as Richfield Springs stayed alive in the chase for the T-V East Division crown with a road victory.

After giving up one run in the seventh, Richvalsky allowed Mataiah Waters and Serena Chase to reach base for first-and-second situation with one out. Richvalsky then went to a full count with the next batter, Peggy Paffenroth, leading to the second out.

“Peggy thought it was 3-2 before the pitch, so she went to first and the runners started to advance,” Milford coach Jim Weir said.

RS catcher Emma Miner then threw out Waters at third for the second out. Paffenroth followed with an RBI single, but Richvalsky struck out her last batter to secure the victory for RS (9-2 T-V).

Miner contributed two of the Indians’ four hits and an RBI.

Waters and Maddy Zenir (RBI) had two hits apiece for the Wildcats (12-1, 10-1), who got eight strikeouts in a four-hitter by Kaitlin Van Winkler.

Milford visits RS on Monday, then closes its regular season at home Tuesday against Worcester. RS finishes its regular-season schedule Tuesday at Gilbertsville-Mount Upton.

The T-V East Division winner will play the T-V West champion for the league title May 17 at Oneonta State.
