Downsville 22, Jefferson 5
Courtney Jennings homered twice, including a grand slam to left-center in the third, to lead host Downsville to a a Delaware League win.
Jennings also homered to center in the fourth. She finished with six RBIs.
Winning pitcher Kaileen Townsend went 4-for-4 with a two-run homer in the first and finished with three RBIs. Townsend limited Jefferson to five hits over six innings.
Leigha Latourette batted 5-for-5 with three RBIs and catcher Ashley Fuller contributed a two-run single in the first inning for the Eagles (6-6), who will compete in the Section Four Class D Tournament next week.
Emily Irwin paced Jefferson with one hit and an RBI.
Roxbury 13, Windham 3
Shannon Sprague went 4-for-5 with a double, a triple and five RBIs to lead Roxbury to a Delaware League win on the road. Sprague’s big hit came in the fifth, when her triple drove in three runs.
Winning pitcher Kendal Sprague struck out 10 and walked nine in a three-hitter.
The Rockets overcame a 3-2 deficit with three runs in the fourth. They followed with a five-run fifth that all but secured the victory.
Windham (7-4, 6-3) will play Gilboa in the Delaware League championship game at 4:30 p.m. Thursday at Ted Christman Field in Oneonta’s Neahwa Park.
at Leatherstocking GC
Teddy Trosset shot a 5-over-par 40 on the front nine of the Leatherstocking Golf Course to lead host Cooperstown to a 195-199 victory over Herkimer.
Matt Frevele contributed a 48 for Cooperstown. Andrew Stilwell’s 45 paced Herkimer.
Margaretville’s James Warner won the Delaware League championship at first singles with a 6-4, 6-4 victory over Josh Riley of Roxbury.
The two players, who met for the final at Andes on Tuesday, will compete in the Section Four C-D Tournament on Thursday.
