The loss evened Oneonta State’s record at 1-1.
With the score tied at 1, Casey Garlasco took a corner kick that found the head of teammate Amanda Repko, whose shot deflected off the cross bar. The rebound went to Kalafor, who kicked it into the goal.
O-State tied the score at 1 on Karly DeSimone’s goal in the 75th minute. DeSimone earned a penalty kick after being tackled in the box. Her initial shot was deflected by goalie KC Nunez and hit off the post, but DeSimone converted the rebound.
The Red Dragons outshot Kean, 14-12, and forced Nunez to make eight saves.
Kelley Murphy made five saves for O-State, which will play RIT at 1 p.m. Saturday in an opening-round game of the Oneonta Mayor’s Cup at Hartwick.
Utica 5, Cobleskill 1
Michelle O’Boyle scored in the 86th minute for Cobleskill, which lost its season opener in the Brozman Cup on Sunday at Hartwick.
Haley MacLean made 13 saves for the Fighting Tigers, who allowed 34 shots.
Cobleskill will travel to Bard College at 7 p.m. Wednesday.
Delhi 6, Corning 4
Nicole Welcome scored four times Sunday to lead host SUNY Delhi to a season-opening victory.
Paris Mateo contributed a goal and an assist for the Broncos, who received a goal from Oneonta High graduate Jenn Jelic.
Katie Pardee (Delhi) allowed one goal and Megan McKenna (Margaretville) gave up three as the second-half goalie for Delhi, which hosts Onondaga Community College on Saturday.
Ashley Sutryk had four goals for Corning (0-2), which was outshot, 25-5.
FIELD HOCKEYO-State starts 2-0
Oneonta State earned a pair of victories in the St. Lawrence Tournament, beating the host school, 2-0, Saturday before routing Cedar Crest, 9-1, on Sunday.
Kelcy Forbragd scored and assisted in the Red Dragons’ season-opening win over St. Lawrence.
Forbragd opened the scoring two minutes before halftime. It started with a penalty corner as Hannah Hayward sent a pass to Forbragd on the left side. Forbragd scored to the near post.
