Hartwick, Cobleskill men winless on the weekend


TJ Gillespie scored 22 points for the Purple Raiders, who received 21 from Cody Dillon and 13 apiece from Jarret Ruffin and Kyle Sceltza.

Trinity 65, Cobleskill 43

Sophomore forward Brandon Smith finished with 15 points and six rebounds Sunday, but SUNY Cobleskill fell in the consolation game of the Sig Makofski Invitational at Union College.

The Fighting Tigers (1-4) shot 29.1 percent from the field (16-for-55), including an 0-for-10 effort from behind the three-point line.

Trinity (4-2) outscored Cobleskill, 34-18, in the second half.

The Fighting Tigers will play a North Eastern Athletic Conference game at Morrisville at 5 p.m. Wednesday.

Union 75, Cobleskill 61

Cortell King finished with 14 points and nine rebounds in Cobleskill’s first-round loss during the Sig Makofski Invitational on Saturday at Union College.

Mike Marcelin contributed 12 points and eight rebounds for the Fighting Tigers, who received 12 points from Alexis Nunez.

Cobleskill trailed, 40-33, at halftime but cut its deficit to 58-54 on a short jumper by King with 6:51 remaining. Union then closed with a 16-7 run.


OW 92, Cobleskill 61

Junior center Kady Porterfield finished with 21 points, 11 rebounds and three blocks to lead Cobleskill in a non-league road loss Sunday.

Classmate Tracee Schiebel contributed 10 points, eight rebounds and six assists for the Fighting Tigers (0-5), who received 16 points from freshman Shelby Preston.

The Panthers (2-3) opened the game on a 23-3 run en route to a 54-23 halftime lead.

Cobleskill travels to Morrisville State for a 7 p.m. NEAC game Wednesday.
