Volleyball leagues start soon

The Oneonta Recreation Department is accepting registrations from returning teams for its men’s and women’s volleyball leagues. A team must return at least 75 percent of its roster from 2012 to qualify as a returning team.

Registrations for new teams will be accepted until 5 p.m. Dec. 21. The program has capacity for 12 men’s teams and 12 women’s teams. Early registration is recommended.

All games are played at the Asa C. Allison Municipal building on the corner of Fairview and Academy streets in Oneonta. Men will play Tuesdays beginning Jan. 8, and women will play Wednesdays starting Jan. 9. The regular season will consist of 10 games and be followed by a postseason tournament.

Registration packets, which can be e-mailed upon request, are available at the Recreation Department in Neahwa Park. Teams must pay the $300 entry fee in full and complete a preliminary roster to register. Payments must be made via check or money order payable to the City of Oneonta. Cash payments will not be accepted.

For more information, call the Recreation Office at 607-432-0680.
