USPP Spring Race is April 19

The Upper Susquehanna Pedalers & Paddlers Spring Race will start at 11 a.m. April 19 in Oneonta, rain or shine.

Classes for the 12- and 18-mile events include all NYMCRA point classes, pro, recreation and recreation mixed. All classes start at the Route 205 bridge in Oneonta and finish at the Otego fishing access. Recreation classes, C-1W and youth classes will finish at the Otego fishing access. All other classes will proceed to Wells Bridge, turn a buoy and return to the Otego fishing access.

Hot food and awards will follow at the Otego Elementary School.

Pre-registration costs $20 per amateur paddler and $30 per pro paddler. Pre-registrations must be received by mail before race day. Registration forms are available at the website uspp.pbworks.com and should be mailed to Jeff Shultis, 7 Diane Drive, Otego, NY 13825 with checks made payable to Upper Susquehanna Pedalers & Paddlers.

Race day registration costs $22 per amateur paddler and $35 per pro paddler. Registration opens at 10 a.m. April 19.

The first three places in each division will receive awards.

Bowling tourney starts April 26

Cobleskill Family Bowling will host a super sweeper tournament April 26-27.

Qualifying rounds will be held at 1 and 4 p.m. April 26. The top five qualifiers will return April 27 to compete in a stepladder final.

First place is guaranteed $2,000 for this scratch, singles tournament.

Youth conditioning program set

The Oneonta Family YMCA will host a sports conditioning program for youths ages 11-14 on Tuesdays and Thursdays through May 1.
