O-State baseball drops doubleheader at Ithaca; Delhi wins in lacrosse

MEN’S LACROSSEStevens 19, Hartwick 9

Zach Gropper finished with three goals and Cody Petillo scored twice, but Hartwick College dropped an Empire 8 Conference game at home.

Sean Brown, Mike Vaglica, Cody Ciolino and Dylan Malloy also scored for the Hawks (2-6, 0-3), who faced a 10-5 deficit at halftime.

Sean Brown and Roy Simmons contributed two assists apiece for Hartwick, which also received assists from Ciolino and Vaglica.

Charlie Cronin and Michael Maroon each had five goals and two assists to pace the Ducks (5-5, 2-0), who got three goals from Matt Ferentini and two apiece from Andrew Scrutchfield and Michael Serrante. Sean Scrudato assisted three goals for Stevens, which got eight saves from starting goalie Kevin Rafferty.

Hartwick goalie Michael Rourke stopped 17 shots for Hartwick, which was outshot, 60-25.

The Hawks visit Nazareth at 3 p.m. Saturday.

MSV 15, Cobleskill 10

Austin Fragale had four goals and an assist, but SUNY Cobleskill fell on the road.

Max Sprauer contributed two goals and one assist for the Fighting Tigers (1-6), who also received goals from David Meyers (assist), Jonathen Gilbert, Ryan Kissane and Troy Rossi.

Garrett Petit finished with two assists for Cobleskill, which faced a 9-6 halftime deficit.

John Petito (two assists), Pat McEnaney and Germain Ngaba scored three goals apiece to pace Mount Saint Vincent (5-3).

Delhi 13, Herkimer 5

SUNY Delhi needed 44 seconds to take the lead over previously unbeaten Herkimer (3-1, 1-1) in a Mountain Valley Conference victory at home.

Pat Schneck took the ball up field for an unassisted goal to begin the scoring. Jake Guy scored three goals and had two assists for the Broncos (6-3, 1-0), who are the fifth-ranked team in the NJCAA.

Colby Treat contributed two goals and two assists for Delhi, which took a 5-3 lead into halftime.

The Broncos travel to Mohawk Valley on Saturday.
