BOWLING at Norwich

Caryn Balnis rolled her second straight 600 series to lead visiting Oneonta High to a Southern Tier Athletic Conference girls sweep of rival Norwich, 5-0, at Plaza Lanes.

Balnis’ 622 series featured games of 234 and 210 for the Yellowjackets, who finished with 2,343 pins overall. Last Wednesday, Balnis had a varsity-best 686 series at Holiday Lanes to lead Oneonta to a 4-1 STAC defeat of Susquehanna Valley.

Emily Loucks contributed a 184 for OHS (4-0, 4-0), which hosts Chenango Valley on Wednesday.

Kristin Ratliff contributed 12 assists for Cooperstown (4-0), which received nine kills from McKenna Hage and nine assists from Katie Franck.

Alyssa Orsino’s 10 digs paced Sauquoit Valley (1-2).

WRESTLINGClyde Cole Tournament

Madison Hoover’s 4-3 decision over Shenendehowa’s Jonah Fluger gave Bainbridge-Guilford/Afton/Harpursville a champion at 138 pounds on Saturday during the second day of the Clyde Cole Tournament at Oxford.

Hoover’s title helped BGAH to the highest area finish in the team standings. BGAH scored 191 points to place third out of 14 teams at the tournament, following champion Shenendehowa (238.5) and Queensbury (201).

Eighth-place Unatego (121.5) crowned two champions in Austin Ryan and Ryan Marszal. Ryan pinned Moravia’s Cody Lamphier in the 126-pound title match in 3:47. Marszal earned the 182-pound championship with a 14-6 major decision over Sidney’s Kai Sabada.
