OHS wrestlers fall short at home

Oneonta High’s Lucas Chiappisi and Jimmy Verrelli won by decision to tie the score in the early going Tuesday, but Windsor won the next five bouts en route to a 57-21 wrestling victory in the Southern Tier Athletic Conference.

The Black Knights opened the dual meet with a six-point pin for Dave McKee at 285 pounds. Chiappisi followed with an 8-7 defeat of Dylan Morgan at 99 pounds before Verrelli tied the match score with a 10-6 overtime defeat of Darren Dickson at 106.

Mike Wilmont’s second-period pin at 113 sparked Windsor’s five-bout run, which ended when James Longo earned a 3-0 decision for OHS at 145.

Sam Sherrill (pin at 152) and Kirkland Dolan (pin at 170) also won for the Yellowjackets (2-4), who will wrestle at Chenango Forks on Tuesday.

Sidney 37, Walton 33

Brandon Swislosky secured a Midstate Athletic Conference dual-meet victory for Sidney with a 14-5 major decision at 152 pounds.

Swislosky’s win over John MacRabie gave Sidney a 37-30 lead with one match remaining. Walton’s Dawson Beers capped the scoring with a 4-2 decision over Dylan Gifford at 160.

Walton also received pins from Logan Robinson (126 pounds), Dylan Wood (132), Dakota Coffey (138) and Hunter McCall (145).

Walton (1-7) hosts Greene on Thursday.

BGAH 44, Greene 30

Bainbridge-Guilford/Afton/Harpursville rode a four-bout run to a MAC victory on the road.

Cody Ferrara’s 9-0 major decision at 99 pounds sparked the spurt as Damon Decker and Josh Lindsey followed with forfeits and Chris Cirigliano earned a 17-2 technical fall at 120.

Madison Hoover (145) and Jamie Griswold (160) contributed pins for BGAH.

Unatego 76, UV 6

Host Unatego won six bouts by pin and five by forfeit en route to a MAC rout of Unadilla Valley.

Vita Guglielmetti (113), Holden Smith (120), Austin Ryan (132), Lucas DeJoy (152), Troy Jones (170) and Ethan Barber (220) won by pin for the Spartans, who will wrestle Bainbridge-Guilford/Afton/Harpursville at Afton on Dec. 17.

Brandon Brown (126) and Abby Avolio (160) won by decision for the Storm.

BOWLINGat Central Valley

Will Truax rolled a 424 series to lead Cooperstown’s boys in a 5-0 road loss at State Bowling Center in Ilion.

Nicole Pritchard’s 342 series paced the Hawkeyes girls, who also fell, 5-0.
