Jordan Gutierrez finished with a game-high 27 points and nine rebounds to lead Oneonta High to a 66-41 boys basketball victory over Chenango Valley on Tuesday night in the Southern Tier Athletic Conference.
Gutierrez hit five of Oneonta’s season-high 12 three-point field goals. George Foti contributed four threes for the Yellowjackets (3-1, 2-1), who got one apiece from Albert Odero, Mike Wolstenholme and Brock Eichler.
“Jordan started out with three threes to start the game, so they switched to box-and-one on him,” OHS coach Jerry Mackey said. “Then Wolstenholme hit a three and Albert Odero and Ben Southern each made a basket. They stayed in the box-and-one and then Foti came in and hit three threes, so they went back to man.”
Foti finished with 12 points and Odero had 11 for the Jackets, who took a 36-21 lead into halftime.
Gutierrez followed with 10 points in a 21-10 third period for OHS, which received seven from Odero in the quarter.
“We had good spacing, so it was tough for them to double (Gutierrez),” Mackey said. “We had a good start and it’s good to see the other kids step up. Jordan’s going to get his for sure, but it’s good to see that happen when other guys are scoring, too.”
OHS visits Windsor for a STAC game Dec. 18.

Kyle Hanvey had 15 points and five steals for Bainbridge-Guilford, which lost a non-league game at home.
Mike Carlin contributed 14 points and 10 rebounds for the Bobcats (0-4), who were outscored, 21-9, in the fourth quarter.
“We just couldn’t buy a basket and we didn’t execute well,” B-G coach Greg Warren said. “We did a nice job up to that point. We pressed most of the game and played pretty good defensively, but execution hurt us at the end.”
