Walton man wins 5K
Walton resident Scott Gleason won the Greater Binghamton Santa Run, a 5-kilometer road race held Sunday.
Gleason, 28, topped the field of 762 runners in a personal-best time of 15 minutes, 40 seconds. Maine resident Cody Brizzolara, 17, finished 10 seconds behind as the runner-up.
Bainbridge’s Scott Hornung, 30, placed 12th in 17:50.
Walton claimed another top area time as Angel Haraveth, 33, finished 75th overall and 15th among women in 23:00. Walton’s Michele DuMond, 44, crossed 1 second later for 76th place. DuMond’s fastest 5K time was good for first place in the women’s 40-49 age-group.
Scott Poulin, 51, and Jennifer Poulin, 22, also represented Walton in the top 100. Scott Poulin finished in 23:15 for 90th place. Jennifer Poulin finished 98th in 23:35.
Club accepting deer hides
The Bainbridge Sportsmen’s Club and Chenango Federation are accepting donations of deer hides.
Proceeds will be used to send youths to DEC camps.
Deer hides may be dropped off at the club, which is located at 23 Pearl St. in Bainbridge.

Volleyball sign-ups set
The Oneonta Recreation Department is accepting registrations from returning men’s and women’s volleyball teams. A team must return at least 75 percent of its roster from last season to qualify as a returning team.
Pending available space, registrations will be accepted from new teams beginning Friday. Registration will close at 5 p.m. Dec. 19. The program will accept 12 men’s and 12 women’s teams.
All matches will be played at the Asa C. Allison Municipal building in Oneonta. Men will play Tuesday evenings starting Jan. 7. Women will play Wednesday evenings starting Jan. 9.
Entry fee is $300 per team. The team fee must be paid in full and a preliminary roster must be submitted to register. No cash payments will be accepted.
