Hartwick men rally to win at Stevens

---- — Jared Suderley scored 24 points and grabbed 16 rebounds, and Justin Pratt came off the bench to score 19 points as visiting Hartwick College beat Stevens, 74-68, Tuesday in an Empire 8 Conference men’s basketball game.

Pratt’s point total came in 21 minutes. He went 5-for-9 from three-point range.

Kyle Bradley contributed 10 points and 11 rebounds for the Hawks, who led, 32-26, at halftime.

Hartwick (8-5, 3-2) trailed, 45-39, when Max Schwartz hit a layup for Stevens (8-6, 3-2) with 14 minutes left.

The Hawks responded with a 23-5 spurt. The run was capped on a jumper by Pratt that gave the Hartwick a 62-50 lead with 5 ½ minutes to play. Pratt had eight points and Suderley scored seven during Hartwick’s run.

Matt Skrelja’s three-pointer with 26 seconds left pulled Stevens to 71-68, but Suderley sealed the victory with two free throws with 25 seconds to go.

Hartwick will host Alfred University at 6 p.m. Friday.

WOMEN’S BASKETBALLMohawk Valley 84, Delhi 38

Samaria Newkirk had eight points during SUNY Delhi’s Mountain Valley Conference loss at home.

The Broncos (2-13) will host Adirondack on Thursday.

O-State 72, Cortland 65

Senior Alyshia Crawford scored her college high of 24 points and also had nine rebounds and five assists as visiting Oneonta State earned a SUNY Athletic Conference victory.

Crawford made six three-pointers.

It marked the Red Dragons’ sixth straight victory.

O-State (10-2, 4-1) used a 7-0 run late in the second half to pull away. Lyteshia Price capped the run with two free throws to give O-State an eight-point lead with about a minute left. Price finished with 13 points and eight rebounds.

Sarah Longto contributed 12 points and 10 rebounds for O-State, which will host Potsdam State at 6 p.m. Friday.

Lindsey Minor had 13 points to lead Cortland (8-5, 4-2). Oneonta High graduate Erin Wolstenholme contributed nine points for Cortland.

Hartwick 65, Stevens 64

Brittney Dumas hit a jumper with two seconds left to give visiting Hartwick an Empire 8 Conference victory.

Alicia Razanousky assisted Dumas’ winning jumper.

Maria Foglia led the Hawks with 24 points, including four three-pointers. Lee Arduini had 15 points and Dumas finished with 12 points and 12 rebounds for the Hawks (11-3, 5-0).

The Hawks will host Alfred on Friday.
