Ruff's 25 lead OHS to victory


Laurens (6-7, 4-5) will host Gilbertsville-Mount Upton on Wednesday.

Sarah Mellor had a game-high 14 points to lead Schenevus.

Harpursville 57, UV 39

Breanna Christian scored a team-best nine points Friday, but host Unadilla Valley fell in the Midstate Athletic Conference.

Shelby Medovich had nine of her 16 points in the first quarter as Harpursville opened on a 19-2 run.

Miranda Drummond contributed a game-high 24 points for the Hornets.

Unadilla Valley (6-5, 5-2) will travel to Oxford on Wednesday.

BOYS BASKETBALLLaurens 52, Worcester 33

Jared Conklin scored 10 of his game-high 19 points in the first quarter to help host Laurens to a Tri-Valley League victory.

Conklin, who hit four three-pointers, helped the Leopards to a 12-5 lead after one quarter.

Mitchell Barra then scored seven of his 11 points in the second quarter as Laurens extrended its lead to 26-9.

Edwin Rivera finished with eight points for Laurens (7-5, 5-3), which will play at Gibertsville-Mount Upton on Tuesday.

Tim Mould and Jacob Grover paced Worcester with eight points apiece.

Laurens (7-5, 5-3) will play at G-MU on Tuesday.

WRESTLINGMarathon Open

Sidney’s Nicholas Jump won the 160-pound championship Saturday during the Marathon Open.

Jump earned the Warriors’ only title with a 19-4 technical fall over Doug Simmons. He helped Sidney to 25.5 points and a 14th-place team finish out of 15 teams.

BGAH 56, Unatego 27

Josh Lindsey (113 pounds) and Austin Carr (132) pinned their respective opponents Friday to help visiting Bainbridge-Guilford/Afton/Harpursville open a Midstate Athletic Conference dual meet with seven straight victories.

Shane Hoover contributed a 3-1 decision at 120 pounds for BGAH, which jumped to a 39-0 lead. Madison Hoover (152, technical fall) and Jamie Griswold (160, pin) also won for BGAH, which took five matches by forfeit.

Lucas DeJoy (145), Nate Wilsey (170), Ryan Marszal (182) and Riley Hanrahan (220) won by pin for the Spartans, who received a 5-1 decision from Marcus Sperry at 195 pounds.

Cooperstown 48, MM 30

Nate Miller’s first-period pin at 126 pounds led Cooperstown to a Center State Conference victory Thursday.

Paul LoRusso (120 pounds) and Dante Poole (195) earned 8-4 and 11-10 decisions, respectively, for the Hawkeyes, who won six matches by forfeit.

BOWLINGat Walton Lanes

J.T. Smith rolled a 213 en route to a 529 for the high series Friday, leading Walton’s boys to a 4-0 sweep of visiting Deposit in the Midstate Athletic Conference.

Julia Steitz paced Walton’s girls in a 4-0 loss with a 526 series that included games of 205 and 193.

Walton hosts Bainbridge-Guilford on Wednesday.
