SUNY Delhi women fall on the road

---- — SUNY Delhi’s women fell, 65-25, in a non-league basketball game Monday at Albany College of Pharmacy.

Emily Caceres scored 13 points for the Broncos, who will travel to Hudson Valley Community College on Wednesday.

Hartwick College standouts Jared Suderley and Justin Pratt were named the Empire 8 Conference’s Player and Rookie of the week, respectively.

Suderley, the conference’s leader in scoring (20.2 ppg), rebounds (10.6) and free throw percentage (87.5), led the Hawks to a 3-0 week. In a 74-68 win at Stevens on Tuesday, Suderley had 24 points and 16 rebounds. On Friday, he finished with 20 points and 14 rebounds in the Hawks’ 131-124 triple-overtime victory against Alfred. The next day, he had his season high of 36 points, to go along with 17 rebounds, in Hartwick’s 96-82 triumph over Houghton.

Suderley, a senior, also was named one of Hartwick’s Hawks of the Week.

Pratt, a freshman guard, shot 65 percent from floor and made 11 three-pointers during the week. He had 19-point games against Stevens and Alfred.

Hartwick (10-6) leads the E8 with a 5-1 record. The Hawks will travel to Utica on Friday and then visit Ithaca on Saturday.

Hawks of the Week

Along with Suderley, women’s basketball guard Maria Foglia also was one of Hartwick’s Hawks of the Week.

Foglia, a senior, averaged 14.7 points as Hartwick went 3-0 last week.

It started with a 24-point game in the Hawks’ 65-64 win at Stevens on Tuesday. On Friday, Fogia had seven points in lopsided win over Alfred. She contributed 13 points in a 61-40 victory against Houghton on Saturday.

Cobleskill athlete of week

SUNY Cobleskill selected men’s swimmer Connor Worden as its athlete of the week.

Worden, a junior, had a part in three victories during the Fighting Tigers’ 50-27 win Wednesday at Wells College. Worden touched first in the 1,650-yard freestyle (20:20.89) and the 100 butterfly (1:06.68), and contributed to Cobleskill’s winning 200 free relay team.

The Fighting Tigers will travel to Vassar College at 1 p.m. Feb. 2.
