Ben Mikac and Shaun Gillen won at 141 and 165 pounds, respectively, for Oneonta State, which suffered a 31-6 wrestling loss at Cortland on Wednesday.
Mikac beat Tony Battista, 3-2. Gillen downed Joe Cataldo, 6-3.
There was one pin in the match – Cortland’s Bobby Dierna over Curt Rowley in 6 minutes, 40 seconds.
Cortland coach Brad Bruhn earned his 164th victory to become the program’s all-time leader in wins.
O-State (6-7) will host Oswego at noon Saturday.
MEN’S BASKETBALLCobleskill 71, Keuka 62
Alexis Nunez needed but 12 shots from the floor to amass 31 points and lead host SUNY Cobleskill to a North Eastern Athletic Conference victory.
Nunez shot 8-for-12 from the field, including 3-for-5 from three-point range. He also went 12-for-14 from the free throw line.
Khalil Wilson and Dane Brown scored 10 points apiece, and Walton graduate Bryan Backus finished with nine points and four assists.
The Fighting Tigers (2-10, 1-5) will host Penn State Abington at 1 p.m. Saturday.
WOMEN’S BASKETBALLHudson Valley 61, Delhi 23
Paris Matteo scored a team-high six points for SUNY Delhi, which lost a Mountain Valley Conference game on the road.
The Broncos (2-16) will travel to Fulton-Montgomery at 1 p.m. Feb. 1.
Oneonta State’s Patrick Weinert and Joe Carr were selected as SUNY Athletic Conference athletes of the week.
Weinert, a junior from Schenevus, set a school record in the weight throw at Saturday’s Class of ‘32 Invitational at Colgate. Weinert’s winning throw of 60 feet, 1 ¾ inches broke his school record by nearly a yard. Weinert also had a personal-best in placing third in the shot put with a distance of 45-10 ½.
Weinert placed ninth in the hammer at last spring’s NCAA Division III outdoor meet.
Carr won the 200-meter dash Saturday at the Ramapo Indoor Select Meet at the New York Armory. His time of 22.26 seconds ranks fifth nationally in Division III. He also finished 10th in the 60 in 7.24.
At last spring’s outdoor nationals, Carr finished eighth in the 200 and was a part of O-State’s winning 400 relay team.
