Oneonta girls clinch bowling title

Emily Loucks rolled her varsity-high series of 659 to lead Oneonta High’s girls to a 5-0 bowling victory over Owego that clinched the Southern Tier Athletic Conference East Division title Wednesday at Holiday Lanes.

Loucks’ series included games of 248 and 225 in helping the Yellowjackets to one of their highest pinfalls of the season. OHS finished with 2,721 pins, including 960 in the second game, when Emily Loucks threw a 225, Caryn Balnis had a 204, Abigail Loucks rolled a 200 and Jeanette Rock contributed a 191.

Balnis finished with a 581 series.

The Yellowjackets (11-3) will compete in the STAC Championships on Feb. 3 at Laurel Bowl in Binghamton.

at Walton Lanes

Ed Fuller’s 212 game helped Bainbridge-Guilford’s boys to a 4-0 Midstate Athletic Conference victory over Walton.

J.T. Smith rolled a 238 for Walton.

Morgan Dean had a 191 game for B-G’s girls, which won, 3-1.

Julia Steitz had a 198 game and a 519 series for Walton, which will host Greene on Friday.

at Fox Bowling Center

Bryant Gray’s 635 series included games of 203, 203 and 229 to lead visiting Sidney to a 4-0 Midstate Athletic Conference victory Tuesday.

Teammate Jon Gorshack finished with a 612 series, including games of 231 and 205 for the Warriors.

BOYS BASKETBALLWalton 52, Delhi 48

Colin Adam scored eight of his 10 points in the final quarter to lead host Waton (5-8, 4-4) to a Midstate Athletic Conference victory.

“Adam was pressured early, but was able to get hot in the fourth,” Walton coach David Gardepe said.

Walton took a 28-21 lead into halftime and never trailed in the second half.

Michael Lindsay scored 10 points and grabbed nine rebounds for the Warriors, who received 10 points from Cameron Murphy.

Alex Specht scored a game-high 19 points for the Bulldogs.

Walton will travel to Harpursville on Saturday.

WRESTLINGJohnson City 63, Oneonta 18

James Longo and Sam Sherrill had pins for Oneonta High during its Southern Tier Athletic Conference road loss Tuesday.

Longo pinned Allan Santana in 23 seconds at 145 pounds. Sherrill needed 1:15 to pin TJ Williams at 152.

The Yellowjackets are 12-11.
