Komenda's 27 points lead Spartans boys past Afton

Caleb Robinson (99), Bailey Wood (113), Logan Robinson (126), Dylan Wood (138), John Macrabie (152) and Quinn Harby (160) all won by pin to help host Walton to a non-league victory.

The Warriors (5-8) will compete in the Midstate Athletic Conference Championships on Saturday at Deposit.

SWIMMINGCooperstown 106, Rome 60

Ted Mebust, Sean Mebust and Michael Kern won two events apiece to lead host Cooperstown to victory.

Ted Mebust won the 200-yard freestyle (2 minutes, 4.97 seconds) and the 100 free (56.05); Sean Mebust touched first in the 50 free (24.36) and the 100 butterfly (1:04.61); and Kern had victories in the 200 individual medley (2:25.09) and the 100 backstroke (1:03.08).

Cooperstown (7-1) will host Sherburne-Earlville on Thursday.

VOLLEYBALLCooperstown 3, Herkimer 2

Caroline Leonard had 16 kills and Katie Franck contributed 25 assists to lead visiting Cooperstown to a 24-26, 25-18, 25-19, 24-26, 25-21 victory Monday that clinched at least a share of the Center State Conference Division II title.

Kristin Ratliff finished with 15 assists, and McKenna Hage and Brooke Liner had seven and five kills, respectively, for Cooperstown (12-2, 6-1).

Herkimer (10-4, 4-2) was led by Caitlin Roorda’s 10 kills and 10 digs.
