Microni, Llewellyn win SBA event
Frank Microni and Steve Llewellyn won the Susquehanna Bass Association’s Gozigian, Washburn, Clinton Open Bass Tournament last Sunday on Otsego Lake.
Microni and Llewellyn filled the five-fish limit with a winning weight of 14.18 pounds.
Bruce Hall and Vince Fink placed second with five fish weighing 13.89 pounds. Bob Luther and Jim Clement (13.82) finished third, and Phil Kroll and Don Ruetter (13.16) placed fourth.
Llewellyn caught the lunker of the day, a largemouth weighing 3.55 pounds. Luther had the biggest smallmouth (3.54 pounds).

The Cooperstown Soccer Club will hold tryouts at the Clark Sports Center fields in Cooperstown on Saturday at the following times.

The CSC travel teams play in the Broome County Soccer Association Spring League. Travel teams are organized by grade, but eligibility is based upon age.

Golf tournament set for Saturday
Colonial Ridge Golf in Laurens will host an impossible pin tournament at 10 a.m. Saturday.
The captain-and-crew event is open to the public and costs $35 per person, which includes greens fees, cart fee and prize money.

Paintball event Saturday
Adrenaline Zone Paintball in Otego will host a fundraiser for the Main St. Baptist & Beyond Partnership from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday.
All proceeds will benefit the organization’s Feb. 14-25 trip to Nicaragua to help build a carpentry shop/school for youths near the Honduran border.
Rental plus 200 rounds of paint costs $25. Field fee without rental costs $7. Additional ammunition also may be purchased, as well as food and beverages.

Hall free to Cooperstown residents
The National Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown will offer free admission to Cooperstown residents Saturday and Sunday, as part of the village’s Celebrate Cooperstown activities.
The Hall will be open from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. both days. To gain free admission, visitors must present a government-issued identification with a Cooperstown address at the museum’s main ticket booth.

The Unatego Booster Club will host the first Sprintin’ for Spartans 5K Run at 10 a.m. Sunday at Unatego Jr.-Sr. High.
Registration runs from 8:15-9:45 a.m. Cost is $10 in advance and $15 on race day. The first 70 runners will receive shirts. Proceeds will benefit the Unatego Booster Club.

The Delhi Pee Wee Football Association will host a game at the Delhi American Legion Field near the pavilion at 1 p.m. Sunday. The Delhi Jets will play Cooperstown.
Cross country runs start Tuesday
The Hurley’s Heroes Track Club will host a three-meet series of cross country runs this month at Wilber Park in Oneonta.
The series begins at 4 p.m. Tuesday and continues at 4 p.m. Oct. 23 and 30. Each run starts at the Spruce Street entrance on the lower level of Wilber Park and will follow 2.5 miles of park paths.
There is no cost to participate and runners of all ages are welcome.

Colonial Ridge Golf sets schedule
Colonial Ridge Golf in Laurens is accepting signups for its Highlander Golf League. The captain-and-mate league is open to the public and runs from 2-4 p.m. Mondays through Oct. 29.
Colonial Ridge also is accepting signups for its winter Simulator Golf League. Two-person teams will compete weekly in captain-and-mate play beginning the week of Dec. 3-7 and ending the week of March 25-29. Participants may play any weekday and can set their own matches. Weekly fees are $10 per person. A one-time fee of $20 per person pays for prize money for this league, which also features a 100-percent cash payout.

Coaching course starts Nov. 6
Cherry Valley-Springfield will host the first of three coaching courses required by New York State beginning Nov. 6.
The 15-session course, Principles, Philosophy and Organization of Athletics in Education, will be led by Jordan Jaquay and costs $110.
The first four sessions will run from 5-8 p.m. Nov. 6, 13, 20 and 27 at CV-S. Dates for the remaining sessions will be announced after the first week.

Elks Hoop Shoot set for Nov. 10
The Oneonta Elks Lodge will hold its annual Elks Hoop Shoot at the Oneonta Boys and Girls Club at 10 a.m. Nov. 10.
This free-throw competition is open to boys and girls ages 8-13 who will be those ages on April 1, 2013. Birth certificates are required on the day of competition.
Winners will advance to district competition, which will be followed by regional, state and national rounds. The National Basketball Hall of Fame in Springfield, Mass., will host the national finals.

Basketball tourney Nov. 12
The Clark Sports Center in Cooperstown will host a 3-on-3 youth basketball tournament Nov. 12.
