Gilboa roughs up Davenport

Staff Report

Jana Traver had a sixth-inning homer for Gilboa, which cruised to a 13-2 softball win at Davenport on Thursday in the Delaware League.

Allison McGuire struck out eight and walked one in a three-hitter for Gilboa, which scored nine times over the last two innings.

Sara Coons doubled for Gilboa, which finished with 16 hits.

Losing pitcher Jenna Lutz, who threw a perfect game Tuesday in a 15-0 rout of Stamford, tripled for Davenport.

Davenport (3-3, 3-2), which committed 11 errors, hosts Hunter-Tannersville on Monday.

Margaretville 23, SK 8

Rachel Mathiesen's three-run homer in the first inning helped Margaretville to a Delaware League victory on the road.

Cora Bruno (3-for-6) contributed four RBIs for the Blue Devils (2-4, 2-1), who scored 14 times in the third inning to take a 21-3 lead. Tess Svoboda finished with four hits and an RBI.

Kelsey Little went 4-for-4 with an RBI and scored two runs for South Kortright, which received an RBI double in the fourth inning from Rachel Hanselman.

Margaretville (2-4,2-1) hosts Hunter-Tannersville today.

Downsville 22, Stamford 5

Courtney Jennings amassed half of her eight RBIs with a grand slam in the second inning, leading Downsville to a six-inning road win in the Delaware League.

Winning pitcher Kaileen Townsend struck out seven, walked three and singled five times for the Eagles, who scored 10 runs in the sixth.

Ashley Bivens finished with three hits for Downsville, which received two apiece from Leigha Latourette and Jenn Bivens.

Melanie Petrone had two RBIs and a run to lead Stamford (0-5, 0-5), which hosts Gilboa today.
