Dr. Jocelyn Wittstein will address shoulder instability and elbow injuries in throwers. Dr. Tally Lassiter will discuss common knee sports injuries, such as ACL tears and patellar dislocations.

The seminar also will address injury prevention, surgical treatments, strengthening and rehabilitation, and safe return to play time.

Rat Snake registration open

Registration is open for the 2013 Rat Snake, a triathlon held in honor of the late Dr. Ken Stalter.

The event, which is scheduled for May 18, will feature professional timing. The triathlon/team triathlon will begin at 7 a.m., followed by the trail run at 10 a.m. and the 3-kilometer jog/stroll at noon.

The triathlon and trail run will be limited to 100 participants. The team triathlon will be limited to 10 teams.

Riverside 5K set for May 19

The 10th annual Riverside Elementary 5K is scheduled for May 19.

Registration forms are available online at and at the Riverside Elementary lobby.

Carolee’s 5K Run/Walk is May 19

The fifth annual Carolee’s Run/Walk is scheduled for 10 a.m. May 19 in Gilbertsville.

The 5-kilometer road race is held in memory of Carolee Dunham, a Gilbertsville-Mount Upton athlete who lost her life in a Nov. 2007 car accident.

Registration costs $20 and begins at 9 a.m. at Centennial Park. A Chinese auction, refreshments, entertainment and prizes will follow the race at Centennial Park. All proceeds will benefit a scholarship given to a graduating G-MU athlete in Dunham’s name.

OLL offering Yankees trips

Oneonta Little League will offer three bus trips to Yankee Stadium this season.

Eastern Travel will provide transportation for fans to visit Yankee Stadium on May 19 (vs. Toronto Blue Jays), Aug. 10 (vs. Detroit Tigers) and Sept. 21 (vs. San Fransisco Giants).
