(Continued)

Clayton Hawes went 2-for-3 with two RBIs to lead the Panthers, who will play East Division winner Milford for the T-V championship Friday at Oneonta State.

Gilbertsville-Mount Upton’s Andy Baker had both hits for the Raiders (4-12).

Schenevus 12, CV-S 8

Jacob Darling hit an RBI single during a 10-run sixth inning that carried visiting Schenevus to a Tri-Valley League victory.

The Dragons had four of their nine hits in the sixth inning, which started with Cherry Valley-Springfield leading, 6-2.

Justin Monahan tripled and Jake Fassett doubled for CV-S, which ends its season at 4-11.

Margaretville 5, Gilboa 2

Margaretville earned a trip to Section Four Class D Tournament with a non-league victory over Gilboa at Damaschke Field.

Winning pitcher Kyle Short struck out 10 and walked two in a two-hitter for the Blue Devils (7-7, 3-6), who received three hits and an RBI from Matt VanValkenburg.

“Kyle really pitched a heck of a game for us today,” Margaretville coach John Bernhardt said. “We needed to win this game to get our record to 7-7 so that we would qualify for sectionals and he probably had his best outing of the season.”

Eric Mathiesen contributed two hits for Margaretville, which went ahead to stay on a two-run single by Mitch Hull in the bottom of the fifth.

Hunter Grace struck out six and walked two in the pitching loss.

Stamford 7, SK 1

Greg Keating’s RBI triple in the sixth inning snapped a 1-all tie and helped visiting Stamford to a non-league victory.

Sean Vroman’s RBI single scored Keating to make it 3-1. Stamford then scored four times in the seventh inning, including Greg Mattice’s two-run homer.

Winning pitcher Matt Anderson and counterpart Griff Metzko had 11 strikeouts apiece. Anderson walked one in his two-hitter and Metzko had three walks in an eight-hitter.
