Bill Kozak scored a game-high 15 points and Sidney won in the first round of the Dick White Tournament at Cooperstown.
The Warriors outscored Cobleskill, 17-0, in the second quarter.
“We were playing man-to-man defense, and I think we figured out what they were doing offensively,” Sidney coach Mike Brazee said. “We disrupted their rhythm and had quite a few steals and we kept them from getting into their offense.”
Joe Matzel scored 11 points for Sidney (6-1, 3-0), which will play Fort Plain in the championship at 7:30 p.m. Saturday.
Damian Zimmer played his first game for the Warriors. Zimmer suffered a broken leg during Sidney’s 31-30 home loss to Chenango Forks during the football season. Zimmer had five points.
Brad Coeberle scored 10 points to lead Cobleskill, which plays Cooperstown in the consolation game at 6 p.m.

Host Cooperstown had a cold shooting night and fell in the first round of the Dick White Tournament.
“We could not buy a basket all night,” Redskins coach Dave Bertram said. “It was a combination of them playing good defense and us not making any baskets.”
Fort Plain held the area’s second leading scorer, Ethan Bliss, to a season-low nine points.
