Oneonta State freshman Joe Fox was named the SUNY Athletic Conference’s Field Athlete of the Week on Monday.

Fox set two personal bests Friday in the Gotham Cup hosted by New York University at the Armory. Fox finished eighth in the weight throw with a distance of 51 feet, 7 ¼ inches. He also placed sixth in the shot put at 48-6 ¼.

The Red Dragons will compete Friday in the NYU Team Challenge back at the Armory.

Oneonta State junior Jermaine Miller earned Diver of the Week honors from the SUNYAC.

Miller had second- and third-place performances in 1-meter and 3-meter events, respectively, in the Kumpf Invitational at Rensselaer on Saturday. He had a score of 299.20 in the 1-meter and 302.40 in 3-meter.

Miller has already reached the NCAA qualifying marks in both events. Last season, Miller became the first O-State diver to participate in the NCAA Division III championships since 1978.

Hawk picked again

Freshman forward Brittney Dumas earned Rookie of the Week honors from the Empire 8 Conference for the third time this season. Dumas also was selected Dec. 3 and Dec. 31.

Dumas shot 82 percent from the field in wins over St. John Fisher and Alfred this weekend. She shot a combined 18-for-22 in those games.

On Friday in a 65-52 win over Fisher, she made 8 of 10 shots and scored 18 points. She also had five rebounds.

The next day in a 68-42 win over Alfred, she went 10-for-12 from the field and scored a game-high 22 points. She scored 14 points during a 21-1 Harwick run early in the second half. Dumas also grabbed six rebounds.

The Hawks (11-3) have won four straight.

Hawks of the Week

Men’s basketball junior Mike Geisser and sophomore women’s swimmer Jade Woodend were named Hartwick College’s Hawks of the Week.

Geisser had his college highs of 23 points and six three-pointers as the Hawks earned their first Empire 8 Conference victory of the season in a 75-68 win over Alfred on Saturday.

Geisser went 6-for-9 from three-point range and had five rebounds.

Woodend won two individual events and helped Hartwick’s 200 medley relay team to victory during a 163-135 win over Cortland State on Sunday.

Woodend won the 100-yard freestyle (55.13 seconds), the 100 butterfly (1:02.08) and swam a 26.58 split in the 50 butterfly in the relay.

Cobleskill athlete

of the week

SUNY Cobleskill selected senior women’s basketball player Heidi Anderson as its athlete of the week.

Anderson led the Fighting to a 2-1 record last week, including home victories over Cazenovia (57-51 on Wednesday) and Wilson College (59-39 on Saturday).

She averaged 12.3 points, 5.3 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 1.0 steals last week. Anderson shot 39 percent from the field, 35 percent from three-point range and 89 percent from the free throw line.

On the season, Anderson is averaging 13.6 points, 4.5 rebounds, 1.9 steals and 1.5 assists.

Cobleskill (3-9) will host Morrisville at 5 p.m. Wednesday.
