Hartwick trailed, 27-23, at the half and faced a 46-42 deficit with 4 minutes, 46 seconds left, but the Cardinals followed with a 9-0 run over the next two minutes to take control.
St. John Fisher secured the victory by going 13-for-14 from the foul line during the last 1:45.
The Hawks close their regular season at 4 p.m. Saturday at Alfred University.

Hartwick trailed by four points at halftime, but host St. John Fisher used a 12-5 run in the opening minutes of the second half to pull away en route to an Empire 8 Conference win.
Kyle Bradley scored 20 points on 8-for-13 shooting for the Hawks (12-12, 4-9), who received 13 points and seven rebounds from Anthony Keane.
Jared Suderley contributed nine points and six rebounds for Hartwick, which ends its regular season at 2 p.m. Saturday against Alfred University.
Justin Platta’s 17 points paced the Cardinals (16-8, 9-4).
