---- — Shame on the Oneonta Outlaws

It’s hard to believe that the Outlaws don’t have room for a former Daily Star Player of the Year.

Andy Kozak has had two outstanding years at Hudson Valley. Not only did he lead the nation in hitting at the junior college level this year, he also won a gold glove last year as an outfielder. Yet he’s still not good enough to play for the Outlaws.

Andy got a few looks from some New York Division I schools this year. He turned down the offer as the schools didn’t have his major of physical education. He just recently accepted a full athletic scholarship to play baseball at Erskine College in Due West, S.C. I could go on about the multiple awards that Andy has achieved while playing at Hudson Valley, but it seems to be a moot point.

The Outlaws were contacted by multiple coaches about Andy’s interest in playing for the local team. But unfortunately, he was informed that their roster was full? This has nothing to do with the current players on the Outlaws’ roster. I’m not comparing any of these players to Andy. Those players asked to play and are fortunate to have the chance to play at this high level.

It’s unreal that the Outlaws don’t have room or don’t want this player. He is an exceptional player and an outstanding individual. I wonder if the people in charge of the Outlaws realize how many people would have loved to go and watch Andy play baseball as an Outlaw.

I guess that’s why they call the team the Oneonta Outlaws.
