---- — Bowling center hires Lampo

The Cobleskill Bowling Center has hired four-time PBA champion Gus Lampo as its manager.

Lampo bowled full-time on the PBA Tour in the early 1970s. He won the Showboat Invitational and the Cougar Open on national TV in 1972, when he finished as the third-leading money-winner on the tour.

Lampo also bowled part-time on the tour during the 1980s and 90s, after he purchased and managed Gus Lampo’s Holiday Lanes in Oneonta. He sold Holiday Lanes in 1994.

Lampo has 34 300 games and is a member of the New York State, Oneonta, Tri Cities and Cortland halls of fame. He lives in Oneonta with his wife, Janet.

Duo win SBA tourney with top total

Vic VanSteenburg and Mike Barse combined for the biggest five-fish limit of the season to win the Susquehanna Bass Association’s Gordon B. Roberts Agency Bass Tournament on Sunday at Canadarago Lake.

VanSteenburg caught the lunker of the day, a 21-inch largemouth weighing 6.25 pounds. That contributed to the winning total of 19.93 pounds.

Bob Luther and Jim Clement finished second at 15.16 pounds. Bill Smith and Ken Williams placed third at 13.65.

Vince Fink and Bruce Hall rounded out the top four at 12.51 pounds. Hall caught the big smallmouth of the day (3.79 pounds).

Delhi league seeks bowlers

The Delhi Mercantile Bowling League is accepting teams or individuals for its 2013-2014 fall/winter season.

The league bowls at 6:30 p.m. Wednesdays at Holiday Lanes in Oneonta for 28 weeks, starting on Sept. 18.
