H.S. schedule wiped out by storm

STAFF REPORT

Heavy rains and lightning that arrived in the area around 3 p.m. wiped out Wednesday’s high school sports schedule.

One event got started, Sidney’s Southern Tier Athletic Conference tennis match at Chenango Valley. That match will be completed at 4 today.

In girls soccer, unbeaten Oneonta High moved its STAC game against CV to Sept. 30.

Also, a pair of Tri-Valley League games were rescheduled to Oct. 2, with Morris traveling to Franklin in a rematch of last season’s Section Four Class D final that ended in a 1-1 tie (Franklin advanced in a penalty-kick shootout) and Worcester hosting Milford.

The girls soccer games that haven’t announced makeup dates are Little Falls at Cooperstown; Delhi at Sidney; Gilbertsville-Mount Upton at Edmeston; Walton at Unatego; Oxford at Bainbridge-Guilford; and Unadilla Valley at Greene.

Of the four boys soccer games postponed, Worcester at Milford and Franklin at Morris were rescheduled for Oct. 2. Richfield Springs at Cherry Valley-Springfield and Edmeston at G-MU have not announced new dates.

Roxbury’s Delaware League golf match at Hunter-Tannersville has been moved to Friday.

Sidney’s home field hockey game versus Deposit will be played Monday.

Other events that have not listed makeup dates are:

Cross country: Cooperstown at Holland Patent.

Golf: Gilboa at Margaretville.

Field hockey: Walton at Afton.

Volleyball: Delhi at Hancock.
