Heavy rains and lightning that arrived in the area around 3 p.m. wiped out Wednesday’s high school sports schedule.
One event got started, Sidney’s Southern Tier Athletic Conference tennis match at Chenango Valley. That match will be completed at 4 today.
In girls soccer, unbeaten Oneonta High moved its STAC game against CV to Sept. 30.
Also, a pair of Tri-Valley League games were rescheduled to Oct. 2, with Morris traveling to Franklin in a rematch of last season’s Section Four Class D final that ended in a 1-1 tie (Franklin advanced in a penalty-kick shootout) and Worcester hosting Milford.
The girls soccer games that haven’t announced makeup dates are Little Falls at Cooperstown; Delhi at Sidney; Gilbertsville-Mount Upton at Edmeston; Walton at Unatego; Oxford at Bainbridge-Guilford; and Unadilla Valley at Greene.
Of the four boys soccer games postponed, Worcester at Milford and Franklin at Morris were rescheduled for Oct. 2. Richfield Springs at Cherry Valley-Springfield and Edmeston at G-MU have not announced new dates.
Roxbury’s Delaware League golf match at Hunter-Tannersville has been moved to Friday.
Sidney’s home field hockey game versus Deposit will be played Monday.
Other events that have not listed makeup dates are:
Cross country: Cooperstown at Holland Patent.
Golf: Gilboa at Margaretville.
Field hockey: Walton at Afton.
Volleyball: Delhi at Hancock.
