---- — Gossage to speak Oct. 12 at Hall

Hall of Fame pitcher Goose Gossage will share stories from his career during a special Voices of the Game program at 5 p.m. Oct. 12 at the National Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown.

Gossage had 310 career saves and was inducted into the Hall in 2008.

Tickets for the event are $10 for adults and $5 for children 12-and-under. Museum members may reserve tickets by calling 607-547-0397 weekdays during regular business hours. Remaining tickets, if any, will be available to the general public this Monday.

The program also will feature special recognition for 30-year supporters of the Hall’s Membership Program.

Hall accepting intern applications

The National Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown is accepting applications for next year’s class at the Frank and Peggy Steele Internship Program for Leadership Development.

Applications for the Class of 2014 will be accepted through Jan. 31, 2014. The Steele Internship Program will provide students the chance to join the Hall in a 10-week summer internship.

To be considered for the program, students must be enrolled in a bachelor’s or master’s degree program at a college or university, having completed at least their sophomore year. Fifteen intern positions are available.

Pit Pasta Dinner is Saturday

The “Pit” Pasta Dinner will run from 4:30-8 p.m. Saturday at the Oneonta Boys and Girls Club on River Street in Oneonta.

The all-you-can-eat dinner, which is the precursor for the 20th annual Ricky J. Parisian Pit Run 10K Road Race on Sunday morning, will feature pasta, sauce, meatballs, salad, bread and fruit.

All runners, strollers volunteers and families are invited to attend.

Pit Run set for Sunday

The 20th annual Ricky J. Parisian Pit Run 10K Road Race will begin at 10:45 a.m. Sunday near the entrance of Neahwa Park on Main Street in Oneonta.

The event begins at 9:45 a.m. Sunday with the Fun Run, which is designed for children ages 10-and-under. Registration is not required for the Fun Run.

Runners for the 10-kilometer and 5K road races will begin to line up at 10:25 a.m., along with participants in the two-mile stroll.

The 10K loop through Oneonta includes a 1-mile hill climb that starts at the base of Oneonta State’s East Street entrance. Runners will pass through the O-State campus and then face a downhill stretch that funnels into West Street and passes Hartwick College.

The 5K course follows the same route as the 10K along James Lettis Highway until a left turn onto Main Street.

Runners in the 5K will then turn left onto Grand Street on their way back to Neahwa Park, where they will circle Hodges Pond and end at the same finish line for the 10K runners.

The two-mile stroll follows the first mile-and-a-half of the 10K race then heads back to Neahwa Park.

Entry for the USATF-certified 10K costs $27 in advance and $35 the day of the race. The cost for the USATF-certified 5K event is $24 in advance and $30 the day of the race. Entry for the two-mile stroll is $20 in advance and $25 on Sunday.

Delhi Pee Wees to play Sunday

The Delhi Pee Wee Football Association will host two games Sunday at the Delhi American Legion Field near the pavilion.

The Delhi Jets will host the Sherburne Jr. Marauders at 1 p.m. Sunday, followed by the Delaware National Bank Bulldogs against the Sherburne Marauders at 3 p.m.
