The Eastern College Athletic Conference selected Oneonta State sophomore Alyssa Drapeau as the Division III Upstate New York women’s cross country Runner of the Week.

Drapeau led the Red Dragons’ women to a sixth-place finish at the Purple Valley Classic this past Saturday. She was Oneonta’s top finisher in the 6-kilometer run, placing 33rd out of 159 women in a time of 23:52.

“Alyssa ran a very smart and tough race in her first 6K of the season,” O-State head coach Angelo Posillico said. “Oneonta had a pack of women working together early on and Alyssa handled the tough course brilliantly to be our top runner of the day. She competed well against a highly talented field, which included three of the top-six women’s cross country teams in NCAA Division III.”

Drapeau is in her first season with the Red Dragons after transferring from Division I University at Buffalo.

O-State will host the Airfield Invitational at Fortin Park on Oct. 12.
