Torri Halaquist scored two goals in the first half to lead third-seeded Unatego to a 4-1 Section Four Class C quarterfinal girls soccer victory over visiting Sidney on Thursday.

The first came nine minutes into play, one that Halaquist kicked into the goal. Twelve minutes later, Halaquist headed in a Newman corner kick at the back post to make it 2-0.
“Two beautiful corners,” Unatego coach Sue Herodes said. “We were feeling good.”
Tanner Reed headed the ball into the left corner off an assist by Halaquist, 6:30 into the second half as the Spartans took a 3-0 lead.
Reed scored again after intercepting a Jolene Krom goal kick, and shot to the right-center part of the goal with 22:58 left to go in the second half to make it a four-goal cushion.
Sidney’s Katie Kirk scored from 12 yards with 19 minutes left to cap the scoring. Mackensie Gravelin assisted Kirk’s goal. Krom had 13 saves for Sidney (9-6), which lost three times to Unatego this season.
Midstate Athletic Conference champion Unatego (15-2) has won 14 straight games. The Spartans, the defending Section Four Class C champions, will play the winner of seventh-seeded Greene and No. 2 Elmira Notre Dame, in a semifinal Tuesday. Greene and END play today.
If Greene wins, Unatego would host the semifinal. The Spartans would travel to END (12-1-3) if the Crusanders win today.
“That would be nice,” Herodes said of hosting the semifinal.
Tully 4, Cooperstown 0
Olivia Ganley scored two goals to lead third-seeded Tully to a Section Three Class C-1 quarterfinal win at home.
Madison Lyon opened the scoring seven minutes into play off an assist from Ganley, who made it 2-0 with an unassisted goal 2:30 before halftime.
Jenna Donald and Ganley scored second-half goals.
Tully (15-2) will play No. 2 Little Falls on Tuesday in a C-1 semifinal.
Katie Kleban had 14 saves for sixth-seeded Cooperstown, which finished its season at 8-8-1.
B-G 3, Walton 0
Morgan Bullis finished with four aces, four kills, six kills and three blocks to lead host Bainbridge-Guilford to a 25-18, 25-15, 25-16 win in the Midstate Athletic Conference 1-4 consolation match.
Alissa Rivera contributed five aces, two kills and three digs for the Bobcats, who received seven aces from Cassie Safford.
Tiara Nichols had four aces and three kills to lead Walton, which will play Spencer-Van Etten on Monday in a Section Four Class D first-round match.
B-G (14-4) will host Hancock or Candor in a Class D quarterfinal on Tuesday.
UV 3, Oxford 1
Nicole Mackey had 15 assists, seven kills and four aces to lead host Unadilla Valley to a 19-25, 25-22, 25-22, 25-21 victory in the consolation match of the Midstate Athletic Conference 5-8 tournament.
Shannon McIntyre contributed 12 assists, eight kills and five aces, and teammate Haley Benson finished with seven aces and five kills for the Storm, who received six kills and three aces from Mariah Bodie.
Octavia Bishop had 23 digs and five kills for Oxford.
UV (10-8) will travel to Deposit on Monday for a first-round match in the Section Four Class D tournament.
Hancock 3, Deposit 1
Mariah Mee had seven aces and five kills to lead host Hancock to a 25-17, 21-25, 25-17, 25-23 victory in the final of the Midstate Athletic Conference 5-8 tournament.
Alissa Young contributed six aces and three kills for Hancock (10-8), which is the 11th seed for the Section Four Class D tournament and will visit Candor in the first round at 5 p.m. Monday.
Shelby Petterson had a team-high 10 assists, to go along with nine aces and three kills, and teammate Catherine Bush had a team-best 12 digs and three kills for Deposit (11-7), which will host Unadilla Valley in the first round of sectionals Monday.
