Senior Katie Ryan and Ashlynn Mohan had nine and eight kills, respectively, as host Hartwick College defeated SUNY Cobleskill, 25-20, 25-14, 23-25, 27-25, in a non-conference volleyball match Thursday on Senior Night.
It was also a “Dig Pink” match for breast cancer awareness.
The final set featured 11 ties. A Mohan kill tied the score at 24. Cobleskill won the next point, but the Hawks closed the match with three straight points to win the match.
Dana Martin had six kills for Hartwick, which improved to 10-18.
Senior Mickey Coons had her college-best of 18 digs, one more than classmate Christina Vitale.
Senior Megan Luce had her college highs of six digs, three blocks and two kills for the Hawks, who honored seniors Ryan, Vitale, Coons and Luce before their final home match.
Also for Hartwick, Hannah Armstrong had 20 assists and eight digs, and Quincy Kinzel contributed 12 assists.
Cobleskill (11-18) received nine kills apiece from Amber Baker and Kady Porterfield. Oneonta High graduate Kim Cordova and Baker each had 16 digs. Katie Yank and Casey Holbert combined for 31 assists for the Fighting Tigers.
Hartwick will travel to Cazenovia at 11 a.m. Saturday.
