Sophomores Kayla Ceschini and Jessica Lyden scored in the first half Wednesday, leading Oneonta State past host Hartwick College, 4-0, in a non-conference women’s soccer game that closed its regular season.
Ceschini opened the scoring in the 30th minute, collecting a Hartwick goal kick and dribbling into the 18-yard box to set up her fifth goal of the season.
Less than three minutes later, Lyden tracked down a loose ball in the box following a corner kick by classmate Liz Lasota and scored for a 2-0 lead.
Seniors Amanda Regensburger and Melissa Guglielmo contributed second-half goals for the Red Dragons (10-4-3), who got an assist from senior Karly DeSimone.
Regensburger scored her third goal of the season in the 70th minute and Guglielmo made it 4-0 less than two minutes later off a pass from DeSimone.
Goalies Becky Fildes and Kelley Murphy combined on the shutout for O-State, which finished with advantages of 17-5 in shots and 10-0 in corner kicks against the Hawks (7-7-3).
The Red Dragons are off until hosting an 11 a.m. SUNY Athletic Conference Tournament semifinal Nov. 6. Regular-season SUNYAC champion Oneonta will play Brockport or Oswego, who will play a quarterfinal this Saturday.
O-State 4, Utica 3
Ashley Morgan scored the winning goal 13:18 into overtime as Oneonta State defeated host Utica in a non-conference game.
Morgan dribbled past three defenders before scoring into the right side of the goal for Oneonta (12-6), which allowed Utica (13-4) to tie the score with 3:04 left in regulation.
The Pioneers opened the scoring in the 11th minute, when Colleen Dowling converted off a penalty corner. A little more than a minute later, Kelcy Forbragd tied it off a pass from Andrea Day.
Hannah Mackey’s unassisted goal six minute later helped Utica to a 2-1 lead at halftime.
Day’s 15th goal of the season came in the 51st minute, off an assist from Morgan, to tie the score at 2. Walton graduate Erin Butler followed with a goal off a pass from Sara Rattigan to put Oneonta ahead, 3-2, in the 54th minute.
Utica answered with a goal by Louise Steele-Norton to force overtime.
Tess Tracy (three saves) and Krista Servedio (five saves) shared the goalkeeping duties for Oneonta, which plays its final regular-season game at 2 p.m. Saturday at Rensselaer.
Skidmore 3, Hartwick 0
Shannon Carter made 10 saves, but Hartwick lost its home finale to 14th-ranked Skidmore to fall to 5-12 on the season.
Becca Halter scored in the second minute for the Thoroughbreds (14-3), who took a 1-0 lead into halftime. Skidmore followed with two goals in a second half that featured zero shots and no penalty corners for the Hawks.
Skidmore finished with advantages of 22-2 in shots and 16-3 in penalty corners.
Hartwick closes its regular season at 1 p.m. Saturday at Ithaca.
O-State 3, Sage 1
Jill Darpino had 14 kills and sister Erica Darpino contributed 12 kills, three aces and five blocks to lead Oneonta State to a 28-30, 25-12, 25-19, 25-17 non-conference road win Tuesday.
Kristina Pelaccio amassed 18 digs and Paige Carpluk had 11 digs and eight kills for the Red Dragons (14-18), who received 25 assists from Becca Horton and 21 from Karly Greco against Sage (15-16).
The Red Dragons close their season at home with the Dig Pink Invitational this weekend. The nine-team tournament runs Friday and Saturday.
