An electric car that joined the Oneonta Police Department fleet last month is now in service participating in traffic enforcement details. The car is charged by plugging into a standard, household electrical outlet and can reach a top speed of about 25 mph. The city purchased the car for less than $11,000 and electrical expenses related to charging are expected to be less than $600 a year.
