BINGHAMTON _ Marlene Auringer-McElligott, 43, of Binghamton, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, March 12, 2011, at her home.

She was predeceased by her son, Robert McElligott; and her father, Charles Auringer.

She is survived by her mother, Karen (Joe) Michel Campbell, Texas; her sister, Diane (Edward) Auringer-Rent, Virginia Beach, Va.; stepbrother, Brian Campbell, Norfolk, Va.; stepsister, Chris Thomas, Oneonta; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins; special friend, Kristen Michel; her faithful companion, Minnie.

Marlene was a member of Christ the King Lutheran Church, Vestal. She was a teacher at Vestal Hills Elementary School. Marlene loved to scrapbook and devoted the last two years to her son's memory.

Funeral services will be held at Christ the King Lutheran Church, 499 Plaza Drive, Vestal, at 4 p.m. Thursday. Burial will be in Shawsville Cemetery, Conklin, in the spring.

The family will receive friends at Christ the King Lutheran Church from 1 to 4 p.m. Thursday.

In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in memory of Marlene may be made to the Robert David McElligott Scholarship Fund, c/o Susquehanna Valley Central School District, 1040 Conklin Road, Conklin, NY 13748.

Arrangements are by the J.A. McCormack Sons Funeral Home, 141 Main St., Binghamton.
