Jack E. Andrews
HORSEHEADS — Jack E. Andrews, 80, of Veteran Hill Road, in Horseheads, passed away at home Aug. 9, 2013, surrounded by his family.
Jack was born in Cooperstown, to Hubert and Mary (Dow) Andrews.
He was predeceased by his parents; son, David; in-laws, Kenneth and Clara Lewis; grandchildren, Katrina and Danielle Andrews.
He is survived by his wife, Kathleen (Lewis) Andrews to whom he was married on May 23, 1955 and recently celebrated 58 years together in marriage. Also surviving are daughters and sons, Jeannette Andrews and Shari Andrews both of Horseheads, Carol (Rich) Kinglsey of Elmira Heights and Laurie (Joe) Griffith of Hendersonville, N.C.; Jack (Tracy) Andrews of Nashville, Tenn., and Mark Andrews of Horseheads; along with 19 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren; many nieces; nephews; great-nieces and nephews; sister, Bernice Louden and brother, Victor (Ava) Andrews.
Jack was also predeceased by his brothers, James, Arthur and Wilbert and sisters, Leona, Charlotte, Jane and Ervine.
Jack was a Boy Scout Leader for many years. He was Master Sergeant in the Army Reserves and graduated from both Cooperstown High School and EBI in Elmira. He loved to hunt. Jack also loved to bake cookies with his grandchildren.
Family and friends called at the Barber Funeral Home, 413 S. Main St., Horseheads, from 4 to 7 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 12.
Services will take place at the funeral home at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 13, with burial and honors to follow in Maple Grove Cemetery.
