NEW YORK MILLS — Marie S. Wheeler, 65, formerly of Oneonta, passed away June 23, 2013,at Bassett Medical Center in Cooperstown, after a long battle with diabetes.
She was born March 24, 1948, in Utica, the daughter of Anthony and Mary (Lupia) Mancino.
She married Robert “Bob” Wheeler on Oct. 26, 1991.
Marie worked at Jamesway Department Store and was a pediatric LPN at A.O. Fox Memorial Hospital.
She enjoyed going to the casino and playing bingo. She was an avid sports fan. Her passion was football and the Boston Red Sox.
She is survived by her husband, Bob Wheeler; children, Lynn and Joseph Bonesteel of Springfield, Tenn., Gina and Christopher Montgomery of Oneonta, Francis and Yemelly Wheeler of Cohoes; grandchildren, Todd Romanelli, Kayla King, Tristan Montgomery, Aiyana Roupp, Anthony Romanelli, Jaiden Montgomery, Kyle Bonesteel, Teaghan Montgomery and Ethan Wheeler; a brother, Phillip and Hermine Mancino of Marcy; a sister, Carol McGraw of Oneonta; a nephew, Ryan and Ann McGraw; a niece, Allison McGraw; her mother-in-law, Eleanor Wheeler; and the Wheeler families; a special family friend, Eddie Swift; and many cousins.
She was predeceased by her parents; a brother, Anthony Mancino; and an infant brother.
Calling hours will be 5 to 7 p.m. with the service starting at 7 p.m. Friday, June 28, 2013, at the Lewis, Hurley & Pietrobono Funeral Home, 51 Dietz St., Oneonta. As per Marie’s wishes, casual attire.
